About Us...

We are a family with seven children aged 4 to 26 years (though five have left home). Together we live, learn, work, play music, grow food and connect with our local community.

We have lived here for 12 years on our 42 acres (about 17 hectares) of land. It is approximately 3/4 rainforest and 1/4 pasture. A permanent creek borders one side of our property and offers clean water, swimming, wildlife observation, a relaxing place to visit, rainforest walks and more.

Our aim is to clean up the farm – removing weeds and long grass, clearing fencelines, fixing fences and making improvements. We are also planting gardens, orchards and native trees (including bushtucker), with an aim to produce a lot of our own fresh food. These areas need weeding, mulching, planting, etc. We currenlty have cows, chickens and a cat and we love animals. There will be ongoing building projects at our place as we maintain the house to accommodate our family’s needs and build outdoor structures.

We expect approximately 3-4 hours of labour each day. If there is limited work to do outside or weather isn’t suitable to outdoor work, help with the children, housework and meal preparation/clean-up is encouraged. You will most likely need appropriate footwear for muddy conditions, clothes which you don't mind getting dirty, and a hat. You do not need to provide a towel, pillow, sleeping bag or any other similar items.

If you are self-catering (food) in the self-contained cabin, we expect approximately 10 hours of labour each week (single) or 12-14 hours for a couple.

We offer accommodation depending on our current circumstances and the weather. This may be: tent, single bedroom inside the house, a self contained cabin, or your own accommodation (van, etc). We offer up to three varied meals a day. Our meals are sometimes vegetarian, but we eat a little meat. We have a washing machine and clothesline or clothes dryer for you to attend to your own laundry needs. Limited wireless internet is available.  Mostly Telstra mobile phones work reliably at our place, but some other phones will work here or in town.

We are accepting short to medium-term visitors at the moment as we are often very busy with family commitments. Preferred stays are 7 to 21 days, longer by negotiation.

Cultural Exchange: if you speak a language other than English, we would be happy if you shared some simple words with our children. If you would like to cook us some food commonly eaten in your country, we would like to try some – please advise us of ingredients required.

We have friends with properties in the local area who you may like to visit with us. There are also waterfalls, walking tracks, lakes, markets (some weekends) and other local attractions.
